51/50’s Music Video Launch

At Perius we have been broadening our range of services to respond to new and exciting online ventures for the web.

We humbly recognise the strengths of Social Media and that to create exciting, rich and invigorating content that generates a buzz we should not limit ourselves to standard website design. This entertaining green screen project represents Perius’ first venture into the world of video production for online consumption and digitial distribution and showcases our talents and ambitions in the medium.

Guildford-based UK indie-rock band 51/50’s were looking for a music video to show off their latest single, to help market themselves online and to create a buzz around the band.

Hypnotized is a raw, energetic foot stopping rock tune, true to the bands form. Its punchy lyrics and snarling guitar riffs drive the song forward, allowing  the songs themes to resonate to the surface. The song expresses contempt for all of the oppressive social and cultural powers that have a hypnotic effect over our lives. The mass media, government, propaganda and religion are all familiar enemies here as the song shouts a warning not to be ‘hypnotized’ and to save your mind from corruption.

You thought rock and roll was just noise!?

Perius producer, Andrew Cardy who Directed the video, identified the songs themes and worked closely with the band to bring them to life.  For Andrew, the song’s energy and gradual build conjured up imagery of a high speed car chase. He was interested in the concept of packing a huge amount of energy and movement into a confined space and watching the action bubble and boil over. These visual concepts formed the foundation for the video and married well with the songs themes of combating a psychological opponent.

Perius producer, Andrew Cardy who Directed the video, identified the songs themes and worked closely with the band to bring them to life.

The surreal devil character was chosen to embodies the songs themes, representing the evil institutions that threaten our free minds. He controls and band’s actions as they race along a moonlit road. The band slowly regain control and eventually overthrow their unwanted 5th passenger. This highly visual action lent itself to the director’s intentions of trapping a confrontation  in a small space, which is why the majority of the video is set inside the car with the band and their struggle.

Almost the entire video was shot in front of a green screen, which lead to the its heavy stylization and intense look. After much dedication and creativity, the video is now complete. The band will use this video to promote the forthcoming European tour and will be distributed online.
